Permacouture Institute
Fashion and Textiles from the Ground Up
Permacouture Institute utilizes innovative ways of combining materials and developing textile systems to catalog, consult and allow for preservation of traditional methods of textile and clothing production. The Permacouture Institute explores innovative sustainable plant-based and recycled fibers and dyes, and expands the way designers can enhance their creations by looking closely at patterns already found in nature. The Permacouture Institute looks into the design of ecological landscapes that support the creation of clothing and textiles in the healthiest integration possible. The Permacouture Institute provides a venue for sustainable designers to think-tank their creations as well as document, consult and encourage preservation of traditional textile and dye methods and their permanent relationship to specific cultures, the people and the environment, both in rural as well as urban settings.
"Permacouture Institute is a design think tank and resource network that goes beyond the promotion of eco-fashion into the realm of a completely new integrative (and truly ecological) philosophy of fashion." — EcoSalon
